3 Things to do during & after Antibiotics
During a course of prescribed antibiotics: It is strongly recommended to take a daily probiotic. It should be done far enough apart from the antibiotic, so that the probiotic is not killed by the antibiotic. Usually 3 to 4 hours from the time the antibiotic is taken is sufficient.
After completing a course of antibiotics: It is highly beneficial to continue a daily use probiotic for at least one month after the last antibiotic is taken. This will help recover the diversity of flora, and repopulate the good bacteria in the gut.
For best results, use a probiotic daily: Due to our consumption of highly processed foods, and unintentional consumption of antibiotics fed to farm animals, it is imperative to keep the digestive system in balance.
The US National Library of Medicine states that, "Antibiotics are powerful medicines that fight bacterial infections. Used properly, antibiotics can save lives. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Your body's natural defenses can usually take it from there."
